Since i last posted tons had gone down. I played with Joe Taylor at the long Island Fest 2 weeks ago and it was fun, not entirely what I expected but really cool.
I spent that Friday before the gig running the tunes with Barry and Joe for about 3 hours. We had full rehearsal scheduled that night however i wanted it to be the best show possible. Joe and most singer/songwriters for that matter, like to change the keys of the songs from the record. While the parts aren't hard to transpose, sometimes there are certain open string or jangly things that don't work well in fretted keys. To combat this i use a few guitars in different tunings. Usually one in standard and one in E flat. Capos work sometimes, but due to my having to Solo regularly i don't like using them as it limits your available tones. When we finished rehearsing Barry and I took the train into Midtown to stretch our legs. We had about 2 hours to walk around before commencing our jam on at Euphoria Rehearsal studios in Midtown and we wanted to take in some sights.
